Dean's Office

What does the Dean's office do? Responsible for many of the non-class aspects of the AOP experience, the Dean's office is usually the first stop for most parents who have questions or concerns that are not directly related to a specific class. The Dean of Students is responsible for the overall personal and intellectual well-being of students. Thus the Dean's office serves as a central point of contact for parents who have general concerns - including academic concerns - which may affect a student in or out of class, and/or which may involve multiple classes. The Dean's office is usually the first stop for parents who have questions or concerns not directly related to a specific class. For course content or homework questions, parents are urged to contact teachers directly via email.

Additionally, as Senior Class Advisor, the Dean of Students also has the primary responsibility for college counseling at AOP. Please see the "College Counseling" page for more information and resources to use during the college search.

The following are some programs available at AOP for the 2010-11 school year:

Individual and/or group tutoring is available from outside contractors. Tutoring is Intended for those students who would benefit from content-area help from a tutor with expertise in specific subject areas. AOP recommends Mason Academic Services: further information is available by email at: info@MasonAcademicServices.com or phone at: 352-3288.

Help from AOP teachers is available every day except Wednesdays until 3:15 at no extra charge (provided teachers do not have other school commitments scheduled). Students are advised to check with teachers during the school day to confirm availability.

Morning Study Hall is also available (no extra charge) every day from 7:30-8:00am in Ms. Nance's room.
