We are pleased that you are considering an Academy of the Pacific education for your child. Included in the online materials you will find an application for admission, statement of permission, and a teach recommendation form.

The following information is offered to assist you in the application and testing process.

We recommend you return the Student Application to the Young Building as soon as possible since there are often more applicants than available openings. Two Teacher Reference Reports also should be completed and returned to AOP as soon as possible.

Please leave your daytime phone number with us in the event we need to get in touch with you.

The Academy requires each parent or guardian to meet with the Head of School before their child can be considered for enrollment. An appointment can be made by calling the office. The enrollment interview includes a tour of the campus.

Once we have received the application and completed the interview, you will be required to schedule your child's pre-admission test date. On the testing day, please arrive a few minutes early to check in, pay the testing fee, and make sure all of the paperwork is in order for your child's application. Testing begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. and ends approximately at noon. There will be a short break about halfway through, so you may wish to send a snack with your child.

It is the Academy of the Pacific's admissions policy that students are accepted into the school on the basis of openings in groups. These groups are formed according to the students currently attending or returning to AOP. Consideration is also given to the child's age, physical maturity, ability in a given subject area, personality fit with the other students in the group, and personality fit with the teachers.

During the school year, applicants can expect a decision on admission shortly after all application materials are submitted and the pre-admission test is taken and scored. A successful five day probation at school is customary to conclude the final acceptance for mid-year applicants.

Generally, students are not accepted into the school until most applicants have been tested. When two students fit equally well into a group where there is only one opening, the student who has been tested first will be accepted. If a student is not accepted, it is most likely because it was not possible to fit the student into an appropriate group.

Please feel free to call us at any time at 595-6359 if you have questions about the school or our admissions policies.
