Academy of the Pacific prepares students in grades 6-12 for productive lives beyond high school. Our curriculum emphasizes maximum academic and personal growth, with courses geared to ready students for higher learning. Almost all of our graduates enroll in college.

Students at all grade levels are required to take courses in math, language arts, social studies, and health or science, meeting the minimum graduation guidelines established by Hawaii’s Department of Education. However, Academy students are encouraged to exceed those requirements and to earn an Honors diploma.

Electives in the humanities, art, music, technology, and foreign language allow students to develop interests and talents that contribute to a well-rounded education. The Academy also hosts stimulating guest speakers and presents rewarding extracurricular experiences in Hawaiian culture, performing arts, creative writing, journalism, and other areas of student interest.

Course schedules are individually tailored for both the average and the highly motivated student, making learning accessible to all. Developmental reading and remedial classes help some students fill gaps in their basic skills, while college preparatory courses, AP and honors work keep others moving at their desired pace. Qualified students may arrange with the Dean of Students to begin work at a local college or university while completing their high school studies.

Learning beyond the classroom is encouraged through visits to places of historic and cultural value, and through career-oriented experiences at newsrooms, television studios, and local businesses. School excursions and field trips develop a feeling of community among students and leave them with a collection of shared memories.
